How much does commercial EV charger installation cost?
Our team has executed charging infrastructure projects with total installed cost ranging from $20,000 up to $200,000. The spread comes from electrical service work, trenching distance, and charger class — a four-charger Level 2 multifamily install and a multi-unit DC fast charging hub are entirely different projects. That is why every engagement starts with a site assessment and feasibility study: you learn what your site supports and what the payback looks like before committing capital.
Do EV charging stations need a licensed engineer?
Most commercial installations require stamped drawings for permitting — and DC fast charging almost always does, because it involves new utility services and significant electrical loads. EVre is a licensed Professional Engineering Corporation (Missouri Certificate of Authority #2024017299), so the stamp comes from the firm doing the design, not a third-party drafting service.
What does a DBO (design-build-operate) partnership with EVre look like?
EVre designs, builds, and operates the charging equipment after construction — you host it. For high-traffic, desirable sites, EVre may share in the capital cost, and charging revenue is shared to offset your initial investment. EVre handles engineering, permitting, installation, a separately metered utility account, and 24/7 operation and maintenance. The property provides the location and site access. This is the model behind our university campus program.
What areas does EVre serve?
Installation and engineering across Missouri and Kansas, with the Kansas City and St. Louis metros as our home markets. Additional jurisdictions are available on request for engineering-only engagements. We own and operate public fast-charging stations in Bowling Green, Canton, Des Peres, Kirksville, and Osage Beach, Missouri.
How long does an EV charging project take?
Level 2 projects typically run 6–12 weeks from assessment to energization, driven mostly by permitting. DC fast charging runs longer — usually 4–9 months — because new utility services and transformer lead times control the schedule. We flag the utility timeline in the first assessment so there are no surprises.
Are there rebates or incentives for EV charging in Missouri?
Yes. Evergy and Ameren both operate EV charging incentive programs, and program rules change frequently — eligibility often depends on equipment selection, rate election, and filing before construction starts. Incentive capture is one of our engineering services. On a recent project, utility program strategy was worth $40,000 in rebates plus $12,800 per year in rate savings.
